Dos Bocas Refinery

Mobility in Mexico is essential, between buses, trucks, cars, motorcycles, trailers, semi-trailers and rigid vehicles circulate about 40 million a day, this implies a very important need for fuel. Diesel, gasoline and vehicular natural gas to name a few.
Because the high demand and the high cost of fuel, there is a need to create “Dos Bocas”, the seventh refinery in the country that will be in the state of Tabasco.
The first stone of the refinery was placed on December 10, 2018 this is part of one of the three most ambitious projects in infrastructure for the current government of Mexico.
The objectives for the creation of this plant are: to produce and generate wealth through oil, fair price of fuel, energy security and greater responsibility with the environment.
The project will have a self-sufficient generation system, 17 process tanks, 93 tanks and spheres, as well as the rehabilitation of the Minatitlán Refinery, Salamanca Refinery, Tula Refinery, Cadereyta Refinery, Madero Refinery and Salina Cruz Refinery; in the first year.
The advantages will be: arrival of marine pipelines, cabotage facilities for the output of products, availability of crude, infrastructure for storage, transportation of products and the creation of 23 direct jobs and 112,000 indirect jobs.
The infrastructure of “Dos Bocas” will allow supplying crude oil to the Central West, South Pacific and Yucatan Peninsula. It is estimated that the seventh refinery produces 340,000 barrels of crude per day, to have 170,000 barrels of gasoline and 120,000 of diesel per day; the equivalent to 35% of the gasoline that Mexico currently imports.
The 704 hectares of the “Dos Bocas” refinery will be able to put Mexico back as a self-sufficient energy country.
It is important to note that the construction of this large infrastructure project will have a maximum investment of 8 billion dollars, planned for a period of three years for its execution and energy efficiency, in addition to complying with all international standards.
